چکیده
Introduction And Relation To Previous Work This paper presents the development and application of an innovative research method that was designed to measure the adsorption free energy of individual mid-chain peptide residues on functionalized self-assembled monolayer surfaces. As part of this research, an extensive literature review was conducted in the area of protein and peptide adsorption to materials surfaces, primarily using the Science Citation Index Expanded database using keywords of protein adsorption, peptide adsorption, self-assembled monolayers, biomaterials, and surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy. An additional literature search was conducted based on the references cited in the literature identified from this data base search along with standard textbooks in the field of biochemistry and materials science and engineering.

Different interfacial behaviors of peptides chemically immobilized on surfaces with different linker lengths and via different termini.
Molecular structures such as conformation and orientation are crucial in determining the activity of peptides immobilized to solid supports. In this study, sum frequency generation (SFG) vibrational spectroscopy was applied to investigate such structures of peptides immobilized on self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). Here cysteine-modified antimicrobial peptide cecropin P1 (CP1) was chemically imm...
متن کاملAdsorption Properties of Folic Acid onto Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes: Isotherms and Thermodynamics Studies
In the present research, we report the results of a systematic study on the adsorption properties of folic acid (FA) over functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) using the various factors, such as adsorbent dose, contact time, temperature, and initial FA concentration. Our results reveal that SWCNT is an excellent adsorbent for folic acid, with an adsorption percentage of up to 7...
متن کاملNon-Dissociative Gas Adsorption with Different Chemisorption Geometries on Nanoporous Surfaces
Isotherm equation is one of the important scientific bases for adsorbent selection. There are different isotherms that do not account for an adsorbate, different chemisorption geometries on the nanoporous surface. It is interesting to introduce a general isotherm, which considers different chemisorption geometries of an adsorbate on nanoporous surfaces. In this study, an isotherm for non-dissoci...
متن کاملAdsorption thermodynamics of short-chain peptides on charged and uncharged nanothin polymer films.
The present work describes experimental measurements of submolecular-level interaction energies involved in the process of peptide adsorption on polymer films using surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy. Gibbs energy change on adsorption (DeltaG(ad)) for tyrosine, phenylalanine, and glycine homopeptides were measured at 25 degrees C and pH 7 on highly uniform, nanothin polymer films, and the r...
متن کاملDynamic and equilibrium performance of sensors based on short peptide ligands for affinity adsorption of human IgG using surface plasmon resonance.
This paper characterizes the potential of novel hexameric peptide ligands for on-line IgG detection in bioprocesses. Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) was used to study the binding of human IgG to the hexameric peptide ligand HWRGWV, which was covalently grafted to alkanethiol self-assembled monolayers (SAM) on gold surfaces. Peptide coupling on SAMs was verified, followed by covalent grafting of...
